Travel Tip: Prepare for Possible Air Travel Disruptions

Categories: News Tags: Controller's Office, Travel

Be prepared if airlines experience reduced traffic, which could affect schedules and availability. Plan ahead now to avoid last-minute stress.

What you should know:

  • Flight Cancellations and Changes: If your trip is canceled or modified, follow University guidelines for handling fees, penalties and unused tickets.
  • Rebooking Assistance: Contact the airline for help with rebooking or itinerary adjustments.
  • Cost Coverage: Departments typically cover costs for University business changes; personal changes may be the traveler’s responsibility.
  • Expense Documentation: Keep receipts for any non-refundable expenses and submit a revised travel request if your itinerary changes significantly.

For full details, see Travel Manual Section 6.2: Trip Modification and Cancellation Fees, Penalties, Changes and Unused Airline Tickets.

Stay informed! Monitor airline notifications and check your itinerary regularly.
